Common Questions

Is this calculator accurate?

It uses the same RER formula veterinarians use. Use it as a starting point, then adjust based on your dog's body condition.

Do treats count toward daily calories?

Absolutely. Those "just one" treats add up fast. A medium milk bone is about 40 kcal. Give five a day? That's 200 kcal.

Where is my data stored?

Nowhere but your own browser. We use localStorage, but that data never leaves your device. We literally do not have a server.

How often should I recalculate?

Monthly for puppies. Every 3-4 months for adults. Anytime you notice weight changes or after spay/neuter surgery.
